How You Can Benefit From Delta Dental Insurance

Having dental insurance can make a big difference in determining your ability to get the care that you need. When you have dental insurance from your employer, it can make both you and your family’s lives a whole lot easier. If you’re lucky enough to have employer-sponsored dental insurance, it is crucial that you focus on preventive treatments first and foremost. With basic checkups, cleanings, X-rays, and other basic preventive care, you can avoid serious dental issues before they appear.

Coverage and Availability Fees

The Delta Dental Premier insurance plan is an original fee-for-service plan that offers the largest network of dentists possible. In this plan, dentists have agreed to contracted fees that Delta Dental has made for specifically covered services. For any services covered under this plan, you don’t have to pay any more than your copay or your deductible.

It’s important to examine your plan’s specific coverage in detail before you head to our office, however, most dental insurances offer coverage in the same way. Generally, what you get from almost any dental plan in terms of coverage is what you can expect your Delta Dental plan to cover.

Benefits

For example, preventive services (i.e. checkups, cleanings, X-rays) cover between 80 and 100 percent of your costs. Minor restorative services, which include tooth-colored fillings and root canal therapy, are generally covered between 70 and 80 percent. Major restorative services like crowns, bridges, and dentures are usually covered at about 50 percent.

When you’re in-network with a dentist in this plan, you can rest knowing that you will pay no more than the co-insurance specified in your coverage. Of course, that doesn’t mean the yearly maximums and limits won’t be enforced. Our team works hard to help all patients max out their benefits and keep treatment affordable. For example, we may recommend splitting certain treatments into multiple calendar years so that your out-of-pocket costs aren’t too high.
